Piety Hill Musings

The ramblings of the Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church of Detroit. Piety Hill refers to the old name for our neighborhood. The neighborhood has changed a great deal in the over 160 years we have been on this corner (but not our traditional biblical theology) and it is now known for the neighboring theatres, the professional baseball and football stadiums and new hockey/basketball arena.

William's All Star Game

It was great fun having William play in the Single A Little League All Star game on Sunday afternoon!

3 kids from each team was chosen to play. They divided into 2 teams and played a regular game after having a 'home run derby'.

William played outfield twice, short stop once, and first base once. He got a single (eventually rounding the bases to score), and hit into a grounder's choice as well. It is 'coach pitch' so nearly every kid puts the bat on the ball every time. He enjoyed playing in the game with his teammates J.D. and Noah.

Afterwards they enjoyed a trip to the concession stand for pizza and soda.

Regular Little League is now over for the year. Sam and Andrew's team didn't win a game in the round-robin of the play-offs. Like almost all their loses this year, they were by 1 or 2 runs.
Next week we start "second season", a more laid back version of Little League. There are two games a week, all held Monday through Thursday (unless you need to make up a rain cancellation). I will most likely be managing a team for Sam and Andrew, and William (being a 7 year old All Star) gets to move up to Double A for second season.
