Piety Hill Musings

The ramblings of the Rector of St. John's Church in the city of Detroit. Piety Hill refers to the old name for our neighborhood. The neighborhood has changed a great deal in the over 165 years we have been on this corner (but not our traditional biblical theology) and it is now known for the neighboring theatres, the professional baseball and football stadiums and new hockey/basketball arena.

Opening Day? No, a Thursday in September!

In years past, a Thursday Tiger day game in September would draw about 5, maybe 6,000 people. Now with the Tigers heading toward the playoffs there are over 28,000 people at Comerica Park right now. The parking lot is full, and lots of folks going to the game, albeit in sweatshirts, etc. due to the fall temperatures in the 50's.
