Piety Hill Musings

The ramblings of the Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church of Detroit. Piety Hill refers to the old name for our neighborhood. The neighborhood has changed a great deal in the over 160 years we have been on this corner (but not our traditional biblical theology) and it is now known for the neighboring theatres, the professional baseball and football stadiums and new hockey/basketball arena.

Found before we knew it was gone

Today a Police Detective knocked on our front door, to let us know that they had recovered Andrew's stolen bike. We didn't know it was gone.

The garage door had been opened unattended for 10 minutes or so in the late afternoon yesterday. William noticed that Sam's bike was on the lawn, odd since it has a flat tire and Sam hadn't rode for a while.

I guess they must have grabbed his first, and finding it flat, took Andrew's.

Another neighbor also had their bike stolen and reported it to the police. When the police apprehended that suspect, one of the three accomplices turned evidence, and after a search of a house turned up several stolen bikes, the one who fessed up showed the police which house(s) it was stolen from!

Andrew picked it up at the police station today - with a new Grosse Pointe Park ID sticker on it (his was the newest and only one without the sticker). The suspects were over 17 and are under arrest.

Good police work GPP Public Safety!
